Seeking a skilled Medical-Surgical RN with 2 years Med/Surg experience and Cerner EHR proficiency to join our acute care hospital team. Compensation Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,590–$1,680 per week (based on experience and qualifications) Travel Nurse Job Details Location: Hickory, NC (zip 28601) — Catawba County, near the Blue Ridge Mountains Facility: 18-bed Medical-Surgical unit (hospital RN job) Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026) Shift: 12-hour days (07:00–19:00) Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Dress Code: Any scrub color Electronic Health Record: Cerner (Cerner EHR experience required) Orientation: Twice monthly Travel RN / Med-Surg RN Requirements Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) experience in acute care Active North Carolina RN license or compact RN license (travel nurse friendly) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA Cerner EHR experience required IV competency and experience with Baxter IV pumps Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ADN/BSN) Charge experience preferred Willingness to float to surgical, neuro, and intermediate units as needed Med/Surg RN Responsibilities Provide safe, patient-centered care for adult and geriatric patients with medical and surgical conditions Manage patient assignments with typical ratios of 1:6 on the med/surg unit Use and manage equipment including Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA pumps Care for patients with diagnoses such as COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound care, pancreatitis, sickle cell crisis, end-of-life/hospice care, falls, weakness, sepsis, and infections Advocate for patients and collaborate with a busy, supportive multidisciplinary team Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and follow facility protocols and hospital policies Participate in orientation and ongoing training to support high-quality clinical practice Why Join Our Healthcare Team Opportunity to work as a Travel RN / Med/Surg RN in a welcoming North Carolina community Gain experience in an 18-bed medical-surgical unit with exposure to a variety of acute care diagnoses Supportive team environment with regular orientation and continuing learning opportunities Apply now to join our healthcare team as a Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Travel RN) in Hickory, NC.
