The primary responsibility of a Runner is to assist Servers in running food from the kitchen to customer tables. The Runner ensures a smooth & efficient operation by possessing a great sense of flow within the restaurant & is required to possess basic food knowledge as well. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Greet guests as they enter into restaurant Provide preliminary information regarding menu Describe dishes to customers Deliver food to tables Check food for accuracy Replenish food & beverages Take additional orders when required Bus & clear tables Clean tables & work areas Transport trays of soiled dishes Know all table numbers & sections to ensure correct food delivery to correct table Ensure all dishes match the ticket including modifiers & special requests Check quality of plate presentation Communicate with wait staff regarding requests & relay those to the kitchen; also regarding any incomplete orders/deliveries of food or beverages Complete closing side-work duties or other additional responsibilities as instructed by management Qualifications Previous 2-3 years of experience in a high-volume fine dining restaurant required. Be able to fulfill physical requirements of a Runner’s job – carry heavy trays for long periods of time. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs or more Must have Open Availability (AM & PM) & be able to work on weekdays, weekends, & holidays.
