Licensed Vocational Nurse

As an LPN/LVN you will work collaboratively with the providers within the team setting to facilitate quality care for the patient. Essential Functions of the Role:Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.Verifies patient information and updates charts by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; taking electrocardiograms; disposing of contaminated supplies; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies.Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions.Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results in appropriate EMR or record location.Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential and in compliance with HIPAA.Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards, if applicable.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Actively works towards positive interdepartmental care coordination to create the most effective patient experience possible.If appropriate training has been obtained, may perform blood collection by lancet, pulse oximetry, suture and/or staple removal, administer breathing treatment, give allergy/insulin/immunization medications, give intra-muscular and/or subcutaneous injections, give injections Z track.May perform EKGs, assist/process biopsies, start saline lock or IV fluids and monitor IV fluids, stress echos, and/or treadmills.May formulate and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patient charts. Posts tests and examination results. Reviews patient's tests and examination results with provider; documents instructions and notified patient.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or G.E.DGraduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursingValid state license to practice nursingBCLS CertificationDesired Qualifications:1-2 years of experience in the Cardiology fieldKnowledge of ICD10, CPT and HCPCSIV certifiedMedical office experienceWork EnvironmentThis position operates in a medical clinic environment and is on an as needed basisPhysical RequirementsThis position requires full range of body motion.
