HBM is a WBE/DBE firm established in 2003 and located in Greater Chicago Area at Hillside, Illinois.HBM specializes in: 1) Design of Highway Bridges and Related Transportation Structures. 2) Design of Transportation and Roadway Facilities 3) Bridge Inspection in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). 4) Design and Inspection of Buildings and other structures 5) Construction Management 6) Special Services such as residential and commercial facility structural inspections, expert witness, design reviews, technical education, and training.The OpportunityHBM Engineering Group, LLC is currently seeking a Bridge Engineer/Inspector.Primary Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited ToThe individual will assist the IDOT’s engineers, Managers, and Technicians in the daily work required to inspect structures throughout IDOT District One and District Two and to prepare reports documenting their condition and deficiencies.Typical work assignments of the individual will be to perform Bridge Inspections in accordance with NBIS procedures for Element Level and Routine Inspections.Required SkillsBachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university. (Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering is a plus)Must be Team Leader Certified in the State of Illinois. (Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.) license a plus)Must have completed FHWA Introduction to Element Level Bridge Inspection Training.Must have completed FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges.Minimum of 4+ years of bridge engineering experience in all elements of bridge designs and/or inspection.Ability to climb and inspect various types of bridges, including wading in streams, and be comfortable working at heights for extended periods of time.Must have a valid driver's license.Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and familiarity with their policies and procedures Proven record of work that is accurate and thorough.Superior time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.Good oral and written communication skillsAbility to build strong relationshipsAbility to work effectively in a team and remote environment.HBM is an equal opportunity employer, and we prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type as protected by federal, state, or local laws.
