Garage MechanicThe Garage Mechanic is a fulltime position. Mechanics will diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul trucks and all types of diesel engines. Must provide your own tools. Responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to:Perform duties by following the Company's safety standards.Install and repair industrial and commercial refrigerating systems.Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, drill press and jacks and hoists.Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.Test drive trucks and buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.Immediately communicate problems with Supervisor by phoneObey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.Other responsibilities may be assigned by the manager.Day Schedule:Sunday - Tuesday 7am-7pmWednesday 7am-1pmOff Thursday-SaturdayEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements:Driver's License required.3yrs of Diesel Mechanic experience/and or training required.Experience/training with Thermo King or Carrier refrigeration not required but preferred.High school diploma or GED; 2 yrs or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical Requirements:Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.Ben E.
