This is a high-impact Director-level role responsible for promoting effective utilisation of hospital resources, accurate and timely revenue cycle processes, denial prevention, safe patient throughput, and full compliance with all applicable state, federal, and accreditation standards. The role integrates five national standards for case management scope of services: Utilisation Management (medical necessity and denial prevention), Transition Management (appropriate length of stay, readmission prevention, patient satisfaction), Care Coordination (throughput efficiency and appropriate level of care), Regulatory Compliance (TJC accreditation, state and federal requirements), and Physician and Patient Education. Key Responsibilities Manage department operations to ensure effective patient throughput and appropriate reimbursement for services provided. Lead the implementation and ongoing oversight of the hospital Utilisation Management Plan, using data and analytics to drive performance improvement. Ensure medical necessity and revenue cycle processes are completed accurately and in full compliance with CMS regulations and internal policy. Oversee timely and effective patient transition planning to support efficient throughput and reduce avoidable delays in care. Develop and implement processes to prevent payer disputes and manage denial prevention proactively. Provide physician education and feedback on hospital utilisation practices, best practices, and compliance requirements. Participate in management and development of the post-acute provider network to support safe and appropriate patient transitions. Ensure departmental compliance with all state and federal regulations and TJC accreditation standards at all times. Oversee and optimise care coordination workflows to ensure care is delivered in the right sequence and at the appropriate level. Lead, develop, and evaluate Case Management staff, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with patient-centred care values. Produce departmental performance reports and present data-driven insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions. Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor s Degree in Business, Nursing, or Healthcare Administration (for RN candidates) OR Master s in Social Work (for MSW candidates) required MSN, MBA, MSW, or MHA preferred Licensure Active Registered Nurse (RN) licence OR active LCSW / LMSW licence in the applicable state required Accredited Case Manager (ACM) certification preferred Experience Minimum 3 years of acute hospital case management or healthcare leadership experience required 5 or more years of acute hospital case management leadership experience, including multi-site oversight preferred Other Requirements Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practise as required by law in the applicable state. Proof of vaccination or approved exemption may be required in line with applicable federal, state, and/or local law.
