Quality Inspector

Job Description POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, verifying documentation, and ensuring the conformity and traceability of aerospace parts received and distributed by the company. This role ensures compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and customer-specific requirements through detailed inspection, proper recordkeeping, and adherence to established quality processes. The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in preventing counterfeit parts, misidentified materials, and nonconforming products from entering the aerospace supply chain.ESSENTIAL POSITION RESULTSIncoming Inspection:Inspect incoming aerospace parts for visual condition, correct identification, physical damage, FOD, and workmanship.Verify all documentation, including Certificates of Conformance, 8130-3 airworthiness tags, material certifications, test reports, and supplier traceability.Confirm compliance with purchase order requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards.Outgoing/Final Inspection:Perform final verification of shipped products, ensuring part number, quantity, documentation, and packaging meet customer and regulatory requirements.Apply appropriate quality stamps, signatures, or digital approvals.Documentation Review & Recordkeeping:Maintain accurate inspection records in accordance with company procedures and AS9100 requirements.Ensure proper labeling, identification, and segregation of accepted and rejected materials.Enter inspection data into the ERP/QMS system.Nonconforming Material Control:Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming parts.Document discrepancies clearly and accurately.Support root cause investigations by providing detailed inspection notes, photos, or dimensional measurements as required.Counterfeit Parts Prevention:Follow AS9100 and AS5553 requirements for identifying potential counterfeit or unapproved materials.Verify authenticity and traceability of parts and documentation.Escalate suspicious or unusual findings immediately to the Quality Manager.Equipment & Calibration Support:Use calibrated tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, multimeters, and optical inspection equipment.Verify that inspection equipment is within calibration before use.Report damaged or out-of-tolerance equipment.Continuous Improvement:Recommend improvements to inspection processes, workflows, or documentation.Support internal audits and corrective action activities.Participate in quality and compliance training programsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation, Certifications and/or licenses:High school diploma or GED required.Technical or aerospace-related training is preferred.1–3 years of quality inspection experience in aerospace distribution, manufacturing, or MRO preferred.Experience reading Certificates of Conformance, 8130 forms, and other aerospace documentation.Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that are needed by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
