About the job Page Designer The Post and Courier in Charleston, SC seeks a Newspaper page designer for both online and print editions for its daily, weekly and monthly publications. Duties and responsibilitiesPage layout and design: Create and produce visually compelling page layouts for daily and weekly online and print editions using design software such as Adobe InDesign. Ensure that all layouts conform to the newspaper's established brand and style. Regularly communicate with editors and writers regarding story placement, layout, and visual presentation. Prepare print-ready files, managing color profiles, resolution, and other technical aspects for quality output. Review and proof designs to check for errors in layout, typography, and image placement. Communicate with pre-press and printing departments to resolve any production issues. Work closely with writers, editors, photographers, and other design team members to coordinate projects. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while adhering to strict and tight deadlines. Stay flexible and be ready to make last-minute adjustments for breaking news stories. Qualifications:Exceptional design skills and news judgement Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy Strong interpersonal and excellent grammar and language skills Experience working with Adobe InDesign and knowledge of AP style Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and BLOX CMS a plus Bachelor's degree in graphic design and/or journalism or comparable experience Physical Requirements:Close eye work, continuous sitting, constant walking, standing, light to moderate lifting 15-30 pounds (per safety policy).
