A day in this roleKick off the morning guiding a concept review, translating a client’s vision into mechanical systems that meet performance, budget, and schedule. Midday, you refine scope, align cost and timeline, and coordinate drawing packages. In the afternoon, you respond to RFIs, review shop drawings and submittals, and visit the jobsite to verify the work aligns with design intent. You wrap by mentoring teammates, capturing lessons learned, and outlining the next set of milestones.Interested in learning more about this job Scroll down and find out what skills, experience and educational qualifications are needed.What you’ll ownLead mechanical engineering efforts from concept through design and execution, serving as the primary client contact.Produce high-quality narratives, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications with disciplined attention to schedule and budget.Provide construction administration support: review shop drawings/submittals, answer RFIs, resolve field issues, and conduct site observations for design conformance.Plan, schedule, and coordinate resources and deliverables across multiple large projects or an entire program of work.Establish success criteria and milestones; identify dependencies and manage the critical path; continuously communicate progress throughout the project lifecycle.Manage the development of reports, presentations, budgets, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permit packages.Perform comprehensive document reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to standards; execute formal QA/QC checks.Ensure production aligns with client expectations and current industry standards, following established PEM procedures for work execution, documentation, and project/client management.Lead post-project reviews, document lessons learned, and produce recommendation reports.Elevate team capability: mentor junior engineers and technicians; design and deliver training and educational opportunities.Continuously improve: assess and recommend upgrades to software, workflows, standard details, and master specifications.Drive business outcomes: cultivate client relationships, generate leads, position for upcoming pursuits, and understand client decision-making.Support market visibility: develop teaming strategies, lead proposal development, participate in interviews, and author technical papers for publication.Coach, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors to meet commitments.Growth and impactThis position is designed to grow into a Project Manager role. You will expand your scope into business development, client management, and group leadership while retaining strong technical oversight.Qualifications6+ years of project experience in the AEC industry.Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.Valid Driver’s License. xaygatp Strengths in project management and blueprint reading.
