Job Title: Preschool TeacherPurpose: The purpose of the preschool teacher is to facilitate the growth of children with development delays by establish a learning environment that focuses on individual strengths and needs.Responsible to: Building PrincipalSupervises: ParaeducatorsQualifications: Early Childhood CertificateEssential FunctionsPhysical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:General Responsibilities Participates as part of a team to assess learning strengths and weaknesses of referred children and make recommendations based on the assessment. Provide activities to enhance development in cognitive, problem solving, motor, language, affective, and socialization areas. Field trips and community resource people utilized as needed. Devise and implement lesson plans, and room schedule that may include large group, small group. Provide modeling and assistance for paraeducators and volunteers in order to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts. Devise and implement procedures for filling out forms and reports, other documentations and schedules as needed. Provide supervision of student activities in all areas both inside and outside the classroom facility as needed, including snack, nap, toileting, and playground areas. Attend and/or arrange conferences and meetings to evaluate student growth and needs with parents and other professionals as needed. Maintain professional competence through district provided inservice, director indicated inservice, as well as through self-selected professional growth activities. Involve parents and extended families through conferences and classroom visitations. Prepares progress reports and year-end evaluations, administering pretests and post-tests as appropriate. Establishes and maintains standards of individual student behavior. Performs basic attendance accounting and similar record keeping functions. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive display, bulletin boards, and interest centers. Fulfills other assignments given by supervisors per negotiated agreement.Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreementPayment Rate: According to Certified Salary ScheduleEvaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.Date of Board of Education Approval: 08/09/04
