We are looking for a Welder/Fabricator to help support that mission.Job SummaryThis manufacturing position is focused on our Generator Manufacturing Division. The Welder/Fabricator safely cuts, fits, tacks and welds in the production of electric generators at the direction of the Production Planner. Due to invisible electromagnetic fields associated with equipment used, any carrier of a pacemaker must avoid this particular work area.ResponsibilitiesUses electricity and torches to produce heat and solder together components made from steel, titanium, copper and other metalsWelds small components like copper plumbing for residential use and large ones like pipelines for power plants or beams for buildings and bridgesConsults blueprints and sketches to execute jobs and tasks to specificationAssesses equipment, structures, materials and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methodsMonitors equipment for appropriate usage and temperatureMaintains a thorough knowledge of universal standards and specifications to meet building codes and legal requirementsDevelops working knowledge of dozens of methods used for welding a variety of materials and componentsOperates specialized machinery for industrial welding or supervises robots that do the sameTrims metal components using heat, fire and electricityDismantles and disposes of large metal objects and structuresMonitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalationFollows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks and safety shoesGreat BenefitsHighly Competitive PayMedical, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance401k with company matchPaid Time OffPaid Certification TrainingOpportunity for advancementQualificationsCandidates must have completed a bona fide apprenticeship, or have 5 years of previous experience, or have a combination of previous work experience and training equivalent to a bona fide apprenticeship program in the trade. Knowledge in the construction or manufacturing industries. Skilled in metal straightening and fabrication. Proficient in the following welding methods: MIG, TIG, Heli-Arc, Oxy Acetylene, and Soldering. Willingness and ability to work on any assigned schedule, change shifts, work more than 8 hours per day and/or work overtime, all while maintaining good attendance. Ability and willingness to learn and follow safety rules and procedures, to work in a team environment, treat co-workers with dignity and respect regardless of personal differences, and accept and follow instructions and requests from leadership. Ability and willingness to understand and follow instructions, both orally and in writing.Work ConditionsThis position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
