The work location is the Premier Aquatic Center at 16410 Rangeland Parkway, Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34211. The work hours are Monday to Sunday, with variable hours including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays to support operational needs. The expected starting hourly range is $16.38 to $20.47. This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment screenings will be conducted in compliance with applicable federal and Florida laws. An applicant/employee who fails to pass a drug/alcohol screening shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of three (3) years. Job Description The essential functions of this position include observing swimmers at all times, recognizing dangerous situations and taking appropriate action, including performing rescues, artificial respiration, CPR, or First Aid when necessary. The role also involves warning patrons against dangerous practices, enforcing County rules, regulations, and ordinances, maintaining order at the swimming area, performing routine maintenance, keeping locker rooms and pool areas clean and sanitary, reporting all accidents to supervisors, providing good public relations, collecting admission fees, maintaining simple records, establishing and maintaining effective, courteous, and proactive relationships with co-workers and the general public, understanding and appropriately carrying out instructions, oral and written, and performing other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications To qualify for this position, candidates must be 18 years of age, possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, and have a season of lifeguarding experience (a season is considered 3 months long). Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidates should have knowledge of, and ability to appropriately apply, principles and practices of water safety and lifesaving procedures. They should also be able to work flexible work schedules, including weekends and holidays, when required, react quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergencies, see and hear sufficiently to ensure safety of patrons, and have skill and physical ability in swimming, making rescues, resuscitation, and First Aid.
