We recruit a perfect fit, every time.Assistant ControllerPosition Overview: Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to serve as a key finance leader responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, developing accounting staff, and driving process improvements that support organizational growth. Partnering closely with the CFO, this hands-on role combines leadership, technical accounting expertise, and systems optimization to ensure scalable financial operations, strong internal controls, and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys building processes, leveraging technology, and leading teams through growth and change.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering accountability and continuous improvementOversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reportingSupport organizational growth by evaluating, improving, and automating accounting processes and workflowsPlay a key role in ERP implementation, system optimization, and process integration initiativesEstablish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policiesLead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reportingPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedulesManage annual audit activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditorsPartner with leadership to identify operational efficiencies and support strategic financial initiativesAssist with special projects, team expansion planning, and continuous improvement effortsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA or CMA strongly preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years of people management experienceStrong background in financial reporting, month-end close, audit support, and internal controlsExperience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Acumatica, or similar platformsExperience participating in or leading ERP implementations and process improvement initiatives preferredProven ability to develop teams while maintaining a hands-on approach to accounting operationsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesComfortable driving change, challenging existing processes, and building scalable solutions in a growing environment
