Weekend Home Care Aide-Nursing Assistant PTBay Aging is seeking weekend Nursing Assistants (NA) to deliver in-home care services to maintain the health and improve the quality of life of clients so they can live safely in the community. Provide personal care, health and safety monitoring and light housekeeping to clients. Report to the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor. Location: Middle Peninsula & Northern NeckSalary Range $18.50 Hourly Position Type Part TimeEligible for Sign On Bonus of $500 after 200 hours completed. Employee Referral Bonus $250*Active Bay Aging Employees eligible for referral bonus when candidate referred is hired and receives first paycheck.Essential FunctionsFollow the individual Care Plan developed by the RN Supervisor.Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)Bathing, dressing and groomingToiletingTransferringAssist with eatingAmbulationTurn and change positionProvide assistance with Special MaintenanceCheck vitalsSupervise medicationAssist with specialized care need as assigned by the RN supervisorProvide supervisory care for clients who require constant monitoring.Perform Independent Activities of Daily Living (IADL)Meal preparation.Light housekeeping in the area of the home used by the client.Laundry.Accompany client to medical appointments, post-secondary school or in the community setting when assigned.Provide assistance with errands outside the home. Run errands within the local area for the client (e.g. grocery store, pharmacy, Post Office)Monitor home environment for health and safety.Communication and training.Document all services provided. Complete Aide records each day. Submit Aide records as directed.Communicate all changes in client's physical or mental condition to RN Supervisor including suspicions of exploitation, abuse or neglect.Complete at least 12 hours of formal training annually.Decision MakingPerform a limited number of routine tasks prescribed by clients' care plan. Work independently throughout the day and prioritize work each day. Report to supervisor any change in the client's environment, physical or mental condition.KnowledgeWorking knowledge of:HIPAA regulations.Adult care practice and procedures.Bay Aging policies and procedures related to Home Care.Has knowledge of medical equipment on usage and basic maintenance such as Hoyer lift, gait belt, wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, catheters, glucometer and any specialized equipment required by the care plan.Stay current in the knowledge of their profession by completing at least 12 hours of in-service annuallyAbilitiesSpeak, read and write EnglishEstablish and maintain good relationships with clients and their families even in difficult circumstances.Communicate effectively with older adults suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Communicate with clients' families to ensure good continuity of care.Be considerate of care recipients and hold their personal information as confidential.Be observant of changes in client's condition or environment.Ability to stand, bend, stoop, pull, push wheelchairs and lift up to 25lbs unassisted.Working EnvironmentThe work is performed in the client's home and in public areas. It requires repeated standing, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting of weights up to 25lbs unassisted.None of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually away from the assigned places of work.QualificationsMust be 18 years of ageAn NA must hold a certificate of completion for a state-approved education program that includes both instruction on the principles of nursing and supervised clinical work curriculum or maintains a licensure as a CNA issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.Must provide proof of current PPD vaccination or complete a Tuberculosis screening.FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.Disclaimer: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
