365 Marine - Hazardous Waste Class A CDL Truck Driver (Tanker)
OverviewThe Class A CDL Truck Driver is responsible for transporting hazardous materials (including waste) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those set by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The driver will operate vehicles to deliver hazardous waste to disposal or treatment sites while ensuring the safety of themselves, the public, and the environment.ResponsibilitiesTransport Hazardous Waste:* Safely operate company trucks to transport hazardous waste materials to designated disposal, recycling, or treatment facilities.* Ensure that all hazardous waste is correctly packaged, marked, and labeled according to DOT regulations.Compliance and Safety:Adhere to all DOT regulations, including maintaining the appropriate hazardous waste management regulations and other state-specific requirements.Complete required safety checks before, during, and after transportation to ensure vehicle and load safety.Ensure all hazardous materials are stored and transported in a manner that prevents spills, leaks, or accidents.Keep records of waste manifests, delivery logs, and other compliance-related documentation.Inspection and Maintenance:Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checks on tires, brakes, lights, fuel levels, and load containment.Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.Perform basic maintenance tasks or report the need for more extensive repairs.Responsible for cleanliness of exterior and interior of vehicle.Customer Service:* Maintain professional relationships with customers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of hazardous waste.* Assist in coordinating waste pick-up schedules and providing necessary documentation to clients.Emergency Response:* In the event of a spill, accident, or other emergency, follow established emergency response protocols to mitigate risks and protect the public and environment.Training and Continuing Education:* Attend required safety and compliance training, including HAZMAT training, DOT regulations, and emergency response procedures.* Stay up-to-date with changes in hazardous waste laws and transportation requirements.Documentation and Reporting:* Maintain accurate records of hazardous waste shipments, including manifests, disposal documentation, and inspections.Ensure all paperwork is properly completed and submitted in a timely manner.QualificationsEducation & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A) with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsement (no automatic exemptions).Minimum of 3-5 years of experience driving a truck, including experience with hazardous materials.Previous experience in hazardous waste transportation and tankers are preferred.Skills and Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations related to hazardous materials transportation.Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.Strong communication skills for customer interactions and reporting.Ability to handle emergency situations effectively and safely.Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 70 pounds).Must be able to sit for extended periods and operate large vehicles.Ability to work in all weather conditions and be on the road for extended hours.Must be able to travel inter and out of state oftenCertifications:Current HAZMAT endorsement on CDL.Tanker Endorsement on CDL.Ability to obtain TWIC card.40-hour Hazwoper preferred.Job Condition and Environment* The job requires driving in varying weather conditions and environments, including urban, rural, and industrial settings.* Exposure to hazardous materials will require the use of protective equipment as specified by safety regulations.Expected Hours of Work* This position may involve working long hours, nights, and weekends depending on job/delivery schedules.Company OverviewAt 365 Marine & Shoreside Services, we specialize in professional tank cleaning services designed to meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
