Accounting Manager

The Apprentice & Journeyman Training Trust Fund (The A&J) located in El Monte, California is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations, provide leadership to the accounting team, and help ensure the organization's long-term financial strength and success. In this influential leadership role, you will serve as a key driver of the organization's financial success, overseeing accounting operations while helping ensure the long-term financial health of a growing, mission-driven organization. From financial reporting and budgeting to cash flow forecasting and compliance, you will have the opportunity to shape processes, strengthen controls, and provide valuable insights that support strategic decision-making. You will partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer on financial planning initiatives, coordinate with auditors and outside advisors, and play an integral role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records. This position also offers the opportunity to lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of five to seven years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a leadership or supervisory role. CPA designation is preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP is required, and experience within nonprofit, educational, or training organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft 365 and accounting software. Experience with Sage 100 and familiarity with F9 reporting software are both preferred. The ability to manage confidential information, develop accounting staff, and effectively collaborate across the organization is essential.
