Senior Systems Engineer – IT Department Technology Services Position Type Full-Time Classification Non-Exempt Schedule Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends Travel Occasional Position Overview The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for owning the day-to-day operation, security, and direction of company’s internal IT environment, as well as managing and supporting external client IT environments. This role serves as the primary technical authority, decision-maker, and escalation point for IT operations, infrastructure, security, and client-facing technical services. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years’ hands-on experience, demonstrating leadership in systems engineering and a commitment to operational excellence. Essential Functions Own and manage internal IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, endpoint management, and security controls Manage and optimize configuration centers, ensuring efficient deployment and maintenance of systems across the enterprise. Manage and oversee external client IT environments, including onboarding, ongoing support coordination, and escalations Guide clients in network design, infrastructure strategy, and implementation of best practices Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Finance, ITAD, Warehouse, and other internal teams to align on scope, timelines, and responsibilities Contribute to the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) for external clients, translating business and technical requirements into clear scope and deliverables Ensure client-facing documentation, including SOWs and technical summaries, accurately reflects implementation approach, responsibilities, and support expectations Oversee system availability, performance, backups, disaster recovery, and overall security posture across all environments Lead vendor and partner relationships, including procurement, renewals, support escalation, and contract coordination Establish, maintain, and continuously improve IT standards, documentation, processes, and best practices Prioritize workload and initiatives across internal operations and external client requirements Coordinate and oversee IT projects, infrastructure changes, migrations, and platform implementations Communicate IT status, risks, and priorities clearly and consistently to leadership and stakeholders Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and protection of all internal and client data Provide guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to technical staff as needed Perform other related duties as required Competencies Strong technical leadership, team collaboration abilities, and decision-making skills Ability to balance hands-on execution with accountability and strategic thinking Excellent communication skills for guiding clients and supporting technical teams Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, client-facing environment Sound professional judgment, discretion, and client-focused mindset Ability to design and implement effective network strategies tailored to client needs Required Experience 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or systems administration, including experience supporting both internal users and external clients. Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, endpoint management, networking fundamentals, and security tooling Experience in managed services or client-facing IT environments. Experience developing or contributing to Statements of Work (SOWs). Relevant technical certifications or equivalent hands-on experience preferred Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft stack, including hands-on experience with Autopilot, Intune and HaloPSA Preferred Experience Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
