Program Summary
The Accounting Team's purpose is to record, classify, summarizing financial transactions, and report on financial information of the Grants and Awards of our agency.
Position Summary
The Grants Accountant-ILB enter invoices for interpretations and translations into MIP. The accountant also plays a key role communicating progress and variances with ILB team.
The position performs financial analysis and provides back-up for other accountants during peak workload periods. This position accurately maintains records associated with the work and provides detailed information for external and internal stakeholders.
The successful Grants Accountant-ILB will be detail-oriented, communicative, highly interculturally competent and enjoy contributing to a healthy workplace culture for all employees in support of IRCO’s mission.
Essential Functions
Prepare invoices and reports as directed by funder requirements and/or GAAP standards
Reconcile balances for accounts receivable, aging and collection reports
Respond to clients’ requests for supporting documents
Maintain communication with ILB team regarding outstanding receivables
Monitor accounts receivables variances in collaboration with ILB team
Prepare reports as requested
Proactively send out emails to clients about outstanding balances
Ensure we have accurate records and resolve any account discrepancies in a timely manner
Other tasks within the accounting team as needed

This position works under the guidance of the Controller.
This position does not supervise any employees. It will however be asked on occasion to train, orient, and direct the work of new employees of IRCO
Requirements:
Education & Experience
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Accounting
Must be proficient in the English language
Oral and written communication skills commensurate with the needs of the position
Experience/proficient in MIP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and a variety of software packages
Experience using standard office equipment and 10-key calculator
Successful experience in accounting, with integrated computerized accounting systems
Experience and knowledge of State and Federal regulations and related laws
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Accounting and/or Accounts Receivable experience
Knowledge of the principles and practices of fund accounting
Knowledge of general ledger accounting
Knowledge of automated accounting systems and computer processes and capabilities to assemble, review, and maintain complex accounting, budget, or fiscal transactions
Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of financial software (MIP preferred), Excel and related software applications
Strong communication skills in a multilingual, multicultural organization
Strong ability to work with multi-cultural staff in a team setting
Ability to analyze and prepare complex and detailed financial records
Ability to reconcile and reconstruct incomplete accounting information and conduct extensive searches for required information
Ability to use nonstandard procedures and techniques to resolve unusual problems or address management requirements
Ability to use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities
Ability to courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees, agency representatives, vendors, contractors, the public, and others
Ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment, to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, to respond to priorities and schedules that change frequently, and to meet commitments
