Our vision is to create infrastructure that powers communities in the all-electric future.We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Journeyman Electrician to support our installation initiatives.About the RoleThe Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing and supporting the installation of commercial-scale electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects, from pre-construction through final activation. This role is primarily hands-on and includes limited supervisory responsibility for one assigned project at a time, overseeing 1 to 5 apprentice electricians while actively performing electrical work.The Journeyman Electrician serves as the on-site technical lead during assigned tasks, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineered plans, NEC requirements, and local codes. This position plays a critical role in installation quality, schedule adherence, and field-level execution while working closely with Chargie project and engineering teams.RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesProject Execution & Limited Crew OversightPerform hands-on electrical installation work for commercial EV charging projectsProvide task-level supervision and guidance to 1-5 apprentice electricians on an assigned projectAssign daily work activities to apprentices and verify work quality, productivity, and safety complianceServe as the on-site electrical point of contact for the assigned scope of workCoordinate work activities with other trades and Chargie field leadership as neededEV Installation & Electrical ScopeInstall and support commercial electrical infrastructure, including but not limited to:Switchboards, panels, transformers, main breakers, and load centersElectrical raceways, conduit, and support systemsEV charging stations and associated electrical & network equipmentSupport installations from pre-construction site evaluation through commissioning and activationPerform terminations, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systemsTechnical Execution & Problem SolvingWork safely and confidently with live electrical systems when requiredEvaluate existing electrical infrastructure, including legacy or outdated equipment, to determine safe integration methodsDevelop material takeoffs and verify quantities based on site conditions and plan reviewPerform fault current calculations, series rating verification, and equipment suitability checksTroubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic methodsPlan Interpretation & Field CoordinationRead and interpret electrical plans, single-line diagrams, and specificationsIdentify constructability issues or field conflicts and communicate them to project leadershipProvide practical feedback to engineers and project managers based on real-world site conditionsEnsure all installations comply with NEC, local AHJ requirements, and Chargie standardsSafety, Compliance & DocumentationFollow and enforce jobsite safety protocols and best practicesMaintain accurate documentation related to installations, testing, and field changesSupport schedule adherence by coordinating materials, tools, and manpower needs within the assigned scopeParticipate in inspections and assist with addressing AHJ comments or correctionsQualificationsMust have active Journeyman Electrician licenseMinimum 4-5 years of commercial electrical experience, including experience guiding apprentice electriciansExperience with commercial EV charging infrastructure installations preferredWorking knowledge of current NEC standards and applicable local codesExperience coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), preferably LADBSProven hands-on experience installing:Switchboards, transformers, panels, and distribution equipmentCommercial electrical systems and EV charging equipmentStrong understanding of:Fault current calculations and series ratingElectrical plan reading and interpretationAbility to clearly communicate technical instructions to apprentice electriciansComfortable working with live power and legacy electrical systemsStrong problem-solving and organizational skillsValid driver's license with a satisfactory driving recordPhysical ability to perform job duties, including lifting equipment and working in active construction environmentsWhy Join Us?Hands-on journeyman role in a fast-growing EV infrastructure companyOpportunity to lead field execution on assigned projects without full foreman responsibilityCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefitsClear pathways for advancement into lead, foreman, or supervisory rolesWork with a mission-driven organization focused on sustainable transportation and infrastructureAll positions within Chargie require the following (unless otherwise specified or required for the job):Physical Ability: Stand and walk for extended periods during testing and equipment handling.
