Cooler Maintenance Utility The Maintenance Utility technician works closely with the Senior Refrigeration Manager, seasonal location site supervisor(s) and site manager(s) on maintaining production and quality of equipment. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Utility technician performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties supporting the cooler operations and facilities. This position perform duties related to the operations and maintenance of buildings, grounds, painting and landscape maintenance duties and performs related duties as assigned. This position must possess basic maintenance experience, systems and operations, practices, and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. This position may require travel between "in-season" facilities. Location(s): Salinas, CA; Huron, CA; Yuma, AZ Areas of Responsibility: Inspect and maintain assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a variety of routine tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and systems. Performs a variety of semiskilled work in all areas of maintenance, including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, landscaping, custodial, and heating and ventilation. Performs a variety of custodial work including cleaning floors, restrooms, fixtures, windows, kitchens, general office space areas, and public meeting rooms; removes trash and waste materials. Assists with movement of furniture or equipment as needed. Performs minor repairs and restoration of facilities and equipment, which includes but is not limited to, security devices, irrigation components, lighting components, plumbing fixtures, office furniture, drywall, doors, locks, and windows. Loads and unloads materials, supplies, and equipment. Handles, measures, and stores chemicals, bulk materials, and lubricants. Operates a variety of assigned equipment and tools as directed in a safe and efficient manner to accomplish assigned tasks. Performs related duties as required. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of maintenance principles, practices, tools, and materials for maintaining and repairing equipment and facilities. Knowledge of practices, techniques, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Understanding of methods and techniques of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting trades, and industrial equipment maintenance. Able to follow procedures and work safety methods and safety practices pertaining to the work, including CAL OSHA rules and standards, including confined space entry procedures and related safety equipment. Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment. Perform construction, modification, maintenance, and repair work on buildings, facilities and equipment. Meet the requirements to wear personal protection or other safety equipment. Safely and effectively operate various hand and power tools and equipment. Maintain accurate logs, records and basic written records of work performed. Perform repetitive tasks. Read and interpret instruction manuals and diagrams. Make accurate basic arithmetic computations. Maintain attention to detail and accuracy. Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines. Perform work in confined spaces, following required confined space entry procedures. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. One (1) year of full-time experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities landscaping, and/or industrial equipment. Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Other Physical Requirements: Must possess mobility to work in the field and in and around a wide variety of facilities; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work. Must be able to work in confined spaces and around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with the use of proper equipment.
