Position Type:Substitute/Long-Term SubstituteDate Posted:9/8/2025Location:Ledyard Public SchoolsDate Available:October 2025Closing Date:Open until filledLedyard Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute District English Learners Teacher beginning in October and continuing through approximately mid-January 2026 based on the needs of the district.The successful candidate will work under the District EL Coordinator and building principals to facilitate student success and growth in English learning.Responsibilities:Keep abreast of current theory, research and best practices in ELAttend/seek out professional developmentConnect/network with EL organizations and colleaguesEffectively consult and collaborate with school personnel and other professionals regarding student placement, materials, and instructionAttend appropriate building-level meetings related to ELSupport classroom teachers who work with EL studentsFacilitate professional developmentHelp plan professional development sessions based on the needs of the districtPresent and/or facilitate professional development sessionsEstablish instructional programming and provide direct instruction to students who are identified as needing EL supportUse district programs and protocols to provide instruction for studentsAdminister the LAS LinksCommunicate with parents and familiesProvide families with strategies and resources they can use at homeShare student data and progress toward goals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Content-specific skillsComputer proficiencyOrganization skillsInterpersonal skillsAttention to detail Required:Teaching CertificationTESOL PreferredValid Motor Vehicle Operator's LicenseJob requires working at different locations throughout the district; reliable transportation is desired Pay:The daily rate for substitute teachers is $130. Please note for long term substitute positions (40+ days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $278.61 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.
