Logistics Manager — Structural Steel | DC Metro Area Confidential — Represented by Axis Talent GroupThe CompanyOur client is one of the DC/NoVA region's most active structural steel fabricators and erectors, with a significant and growing presence on data center, commercial, and institutional projects across Maryland, Virginia, and DC. Following a major contract win, the company is expanding its operations leadership team.The RoleThis is a hands-on leadership position overseeing all outbound logistics, private fleet operations, and warehouse management for a high-volume structural steel operation. You'll be the operational backbone that keeps fabricated steel moving from the shop floor to job sites — on sequence, on time, and within budget.You'll manage a fleet of approximately 15 company trucks, coordinate with 3PL partners and heavy haul carriers for overflow capacity, and run the warehouse operation that stages, tracks, and ships fabricated assemblies to active construction sites across the region.What You'll OwnSteel delivery scheduling and coordination with Project Managers and field Superintendents — sequenced deliveries to active erection crewsFleet management: DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver qualification files, ELD oversight, preventive maintenance programs, licensing and registrationOversized/overweight load permitting for MD, VA, and DC3PL vendor relationships and freight cost managementWarehouse operations: raw material receiving, fabricated assembly staging, inventory tracking, shipping documentationDriver supervision and schedulingWhat You Bring3+ years in logistics/transportation management, preferably in structural steel, heavy building materials, precast concrete, or construction supplyExperience managing a private fleet of flatbed or heavy haul equipmentSolid working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and regional oversize permittingProven ability to coordinate with construction PMs and field teams — you understand sequenced delivery and what a wrong-order drop costsCDL-A a plus, not requiredStrong communication and organizational skills — this role touches ownership, shop leadership, drivers, and GC field staff dailyCompensation$90,000 – $115,000 base salary | Commensurate with experience
