Logistics and shipping clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Logistics and Shipping Clerk to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of both incoming and outgoing shipments. The Logistics and Shipping Clerk will manage and process shipments, coordinate with carriers, maintain inventory records, and ensure compliance with transportation regulations. This individual will work closely with internal teams and external carriers to ensure smooth and efficient shipping operations.Job CharacteristicsShipping Coordination: Process and manage both collect and prepaid loads for outbound shipments. Schedule and confirm transportation for all shipments, ensuring ontime deliveries. Communicate with carriers and drivers to confirm shipment details, including pickup and delivery times. Obtain shipping quotes and compare rates. Track and trace shipments to ensure timely delivery. Order Processing: Receive and process shipping orders, verifying accuracy and completeness. Ensure proper packaging and labeling. Generate and print shipping labels and documentation. Missed Pickups: Identify and address any missed pickups, coordinating with the appropriate parties to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Document and track missed pickups to prevent future occurrences. Compliance Management: Ensure all shipments adhere to transportation compliance regulations, including weight, labeling, and safety standards. Monitor customer requirements, implement and communicate changes as they arise. Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Work proactively to resolve any shipping issues or discrepancies, such as incorrect paperwork, missing items, or damaged goods. Communicate with internal teams and external partners to troubleshoot and resolve any shippingrelated concerns. Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and uptodate records of all shipments, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmations, and compliance documentation. Prepare shipping reports and assist with audits as required. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, tracking stock levels and movement. Assist in receiving and storing incoming shipments. Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory audits. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by addressing inquiries regarding shipment status, delivery times, and compliance concerns. Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and colleagues to ensure smooth shipping operations. Other Duties: Maintain a clean and organized shipping area. Assist with other shippingrelated tasks as needed. Perform other duties related to shipping, logistics, and transportation as assigned by management. Required Skills Strong organizational and timemanagement skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with shipping and logistics software. Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Required Education/Experience Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
