This position involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates. The estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary data and ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and resource availability. The ultimate goal is to provide reliable financial projections that support informed decision-making and successful project execution. This role serves as a foundation for career growth within the estimating and construction management fields.Preferred Qualifications:At least three to five years experience in the Construction Industry or those dealing with the market niches for which Elford, Inc. participates or intends to participate.Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools.Internship or prior experience in construction estimating or project coordination.Familiarity with local building codes and regulations within the United States.Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.Certification or coursework related to construction estimating or project management.Responsibilities:Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain necessary information for accurate estimates.Research and source pricing for materials, equipment, and labor to ensure estimates are current and competitive.Prepare detailed bid proposals and present findings to internal teams and clients as needed.Maintain organized records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference and audits.Skills:The required skills enable the estimator to accurately interpret project documents and perform detailed cost analyses, ensuring estimates are both precise and comprehensive. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other software tools facilitates efficient data organization, calculation, and presentation of estimates. Strong communication skills are essential for gathering information from various stakeholders and clearly conveying estimate details. Preferred skills, such as experience with specialized estimating software and knowledge of building codes, enhance the estimator’s ability to produce competitive and compliant bids. Together, these skills support the estimator in delivering reliable cost projections that contribute to successful project planning and execution.
