Injection Molding Operator Technician, 2nd Shift
The Injection Molding Operating Technician is responsible for preparation, mold set-up and removal, starting and running manufacturing equipment under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. Accountabilities also include ensuring that jobs meet quality specifications, manufacturing standards and that safety procedures are followed while working to continuously improve quality and productivity of manufacturing operations and the ability to train others. Being available to train on first shift for 3 - 6 months is best.Essential AccountabilitiesMachine operationMold set-up and removal, operate and troubleshoot equipment to produce injection-molded parts to specification; while running the machine at or above standard rates.Ensure maximum efficiency including set-up time, materials, production rate and material consumption.Machine readiness – inspect machinery, equipment and tooling prior to set-up.Identify issues, which adversely affect product requirements and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution.Perform routine maintenance and cleaning. Identify nonconforming materials/products and work with shift leader for resolution.Complete projects as assigned by the Production Shift Leader.Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts to production equipment to restore effective operation in a timely manner.Assist Process Engineer in any new product or material developments. Train other team members on machine operation and skills block training program.QualityEnsure part quality meets established standards.Perform housekeeping duties.Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and SQF Procedures.CommunicationComplete all shift documentation/paperwork.Shift hand-off – go over job status and updates with incoming shift.Assist with training and orientation of new packaging technicians and temporary associates.Lead the production floor in the absence of the Shift Leader in order to maximize productivity and minimize scrap.Make appropriate production decisions in the absence of the Shift Leader.Update management on status of the production floor in the absence of the Shift Leader.This role requires the ability to handle conflict and differing opinions in a constructive and professional manner that align with The Placon Way.SafetyParticipate in safety programs.Follow all established safety procedures.Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.Minimum QualificationsInjection molding experience preferred.Mechanical aptitude.Ability to read, write and speak English to meet training, safety and quality requirements.Desired SkillsAbility to move from daily job to job in a fast pace environmentAbility to safely use hand toolsExperience operating injection molding machines, robots, and related manufacturing equipment; Organization and time management;Computer and software skills; Knowledge of quality control principles and Statistical Process Control, Ability to drive motorized vehicles including forklifts and elevated platformsHistory of working safely including safety training, LOTO and PPE useMust be a self-starter and have to the ability to interact with a variety of people.Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in EnglishPosition RequirementsWork Environment Conditions:Inside (other): Good Manufacturing Procedures/American Institute of Bakers certified manufacturing environment/FDA/HACCPEquipment/Tools UsedInjection molding equipment and robotic automation, computers, controls, measurement equipment, power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, personal computer, Oracle, Infinity, EAMPhysical Requirements: Light work (lift 10 lbs): continuously – cases of product and hand toolsMedium Work (lift 11-30 lbs.) regularly – cases of product and pallets (3-4 times per shift).
