The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise with Juniper and Cisco network platforms, a strong grasp of Zero Trust security architecture, and direct experience operating in DoD or other federal environments where compliance, documentation, and uptime are non-negotiable. You will be expected to own technical outcomes end-to-end — from network design and configuration through security hardening, documentation, and day-to-day sustainment. Security & Compliance * Enforce stateful firewall policies and Zero Trust security principles to secure site-to-site and remote-access traffic. * Apply Risk Management Framework (RMF) STIGs across network devices, maintaining strict compliance with defense and federal cybersecurity standards and ensuring continuous audit readiness. * Collaborate with the cybersecurity team and ISSMs on vulnerability identification, remediation, and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities to protect system integrity and confidentiality. * Conduct network configuration audits to identify discrepancies, security gaps, and performance issues, and drive corrective action to resolution. Systems Support & Troubleshooting * Monitor network health and performance, proactively identifying degradation trends and implementing corrective measures before service impact occurs. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues on operational systems, performing root cause analysis and implementing lasting fixes to prevent recurrence and minimize downtime. * Support incident management processes to ensure rapid, consistent service restoration under demanding operational conditions. * Validate and support the deployment and handover of new network systems and hardware, ensuring seamless connectivity for end users. Leadership & Documentation * Serve as a technical resource for junior technicians and engineers, providing mentorship, troubleshooting guidance, and knowledge transfer. * Communicate clearly and professionally with government client stakeholders, contractor teams, and leadership on project status and technical issues. * Contribute to technical proposals, status reports, and documentation supporting IT and telecommunications initiatives. * Support training of operations and maintenance staff upon implementation of new systems or capabilities.
