Phlebotomist, North Canton

The Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens through venipuncture, capillary puncture, or heel stick. Also collects nasal washings, nasopharyngeal specimens, throat cultures and performs iontophoresis in order to collect sweat. Performs patient registrations in Epic and orders lab tests in the LIS as requested by the physician. Communicates well with the patient and family. Also communicates with other laboratory staff regarding specimen requirements, ordering, and miscellaneous requests. Performs a limited number of basic tests/procedures. Follows hospital policies and procedures. Assists with phones and other miscellaneous office type duties as requested. Responsibilities:Identifies patient. Collects, labels, and delivers blood specimens via venipuncture, finger stick and heel stick using appropriate age-specific. Receives and processes laboratory specimens.
