Diesel Mechanic/Trailer Mechanic

Job Description The Tanker-Trailer Mechanic is responsible for performing testing, repairing and maintenance on trailers and tankers to ensure safe and productive operations.PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIESPerform repairs on steering systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems and enginesPerform preventative maintenance (PM) and minor repairs on Kenworth and Freightliner trucksDiagnose mechanical problemsPerform testing and preventative maintenance on trailersPerform tank testing (V - External, I - Internal, K - Leakage, P - Pressure, T - Thickness, L - Lining)Perform inspections to ensure DOT requirements are met and take corrective measures when requiredEnter work orders into the shop tracking system, TMTRead and interpret work orders, communicate with drivers on repairs and discuss preventive measuresPerform other tasks as assigned, including but not limited to, delivering trucks to and from other branch locations and picking up partsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSExposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrationNoise level in the work environment can be loudRequires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbingAble to lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs.Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusOTHER REQUIREMENTSMechanical or trade school certificate preferredTools based on our experience, will allow a window of time to acquire any hand tools you may need.
