The ideal candidate brings a history of diverse marketing and communications experience, with a strong emphasis on exceptional writing skills. This role will own the development of written content across departments, drive email marketing strategy and execution, and ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all channels. The Senior Communications Specialist will bridge strategy and execution — translating organizational priorities into clear, engaging communications that drive awareness, engagement, and impact.Key Responsibilities Writing & Content DevelopmentWrite, edit, and proofread high-quality content for newsletters, email campaigns, scripts, speeches, web copy, website, social media, Power Point presentations, collateral materials and more.Partner with Programs, Career Services, and Development to translate initiatives into clear, engaging communications.Support leadership with executive communications, talking points, and thought leadership pieces.Email Marketing & CampaignsDevelop email strategy and execution: segmentation, copywriting, visuals, automation, and performance trackingDevelop email campaigns to drive engagement, program participation, donor relations, and recruitmentOptimize campaigns through A/B testing, list management, and data-driven adjustmentsDigital & Multi-Channel SupportAssist Communications Specialist with social media content, copy and campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTubeSupport event communications, graduation programs, and other organizational initiativesAnalytics & ReportingTrack engagement metrics and report on email performanceProvide recommendations to improve communication effectivenessQualificationsBachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field35 years of professional communications experienceExceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skillsExperience designing, executing, and optimizing email campaignsFamiliarity with email and social media marketing and best practicesStrong project management and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate across departments and manage multiple prioritiesBonus SkillsNonprofit communications experienceSalesforce experienceBasic graphic skills (Canva, Adobe, etc.)Why Join DWD?Be part of a growing national mission-driven organization making a real impact in healthcare workforce developmentWork across departments, shaping communications that matterGrow your skills in strategic communications, multichannel campaigns, and nonprofit storytellingWhat We OfferHealth, dental, and vision insuranceDisability and life insurance403(b) retirement plan with employer matchGenerous PTO and holiday payA team that values flexibility, inclusivity, and collaborationApply Today and help us shape the future of healthcare—one Scholar at a time.
