This is a database-first role — roughly 70% SQL Server engineering and 30% Java/Spring Boot development.If you’re the person on your team who gets handed the query nobody else can make fast, this one is for you.WHAT YOU’LL DODatabase Engineering (~70%)* Design and build SQL Server objects — stored procedures, views, functions, indexes, and complex T-SQL* Own performance tuning: execution plan analysis, index strategy, blocking and deadlock resolution, query optimization* Build and maintain SSIS packages for ETL and data integration workflows* Lead database migration efforts — version upgrades, platform moves, and cloud migration* Design logical and physical data models and support production databases end to end* Build integrations across the firm’s practice management, billing, and document management systems* Develop reporting datasets for firm leadership — matter profitability, realization, utilization, and ARJava Development (~30%)* Build and maintain Java microservices using Spring Boot* Develop and consume RESTful APIs* Work with Spring Data JPA / Hibernate and tune ORM-generated queries* Troubleshoot performance end to end, from API call through to query executionWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR* 6-10 years of hands-on database development, primarily on Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)* Expert-level T-SQL — complex stored procedures and query development* Demonstrable production performance tuning experience (be ready to walk us through a real example)* Strong hands-on SSIS development* Direct experience delivering database migrations* Solid data modeling skills across OLTP and reporting workloads* 3+ years of Java development with Spring Boot and REST APIs* Experience with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, or equivalent* Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive data* Must be local to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex
