QA Manager
About the Position: Responsible for managing the Quality program. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in quality control methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Oversee Quality program and drive improvements to ensure a quality product that meets customer specifications and company requirements. Maintain quality program and drive process improvements to ensure quality systems meet customer specifications and company requirements. Lead the design and implementation of quality assurance systems and resolve quality problems with manufacturing, vendors, and customers. Oversee customer improvement opportunities (CIO) system, and drive continuous improvements. Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions to customer complaints regarding quality. Ensure product safety and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Direct activities to ensure ISO 9001 compliance, including document control, Internal Audits, and Management Review. Develops standard operating procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation as well as formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives to maximize product reliability. Works closely with internal departments to resolve in-house and supplier quality problems. Investigates the root cause of field quality issues and recommend and implement corrective action as required. Maintains and manages production and quality records for evaluation and traceability. Troubleshoots production and quality issues on the production floor and provides technical assistance in addition to identifying and implementing process improvements. Leads external facility audits to ensure facilities and procedures comply with third-party inspections. Be the safety leader on the floor; promote an active safety culture; stringently enforced all safety policies and procedures; and correct all safety infractions immediately. Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Makes employment recommendations to the Technical Director. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all responsible areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas. Work with Production to ensure only products that meet the AWIP quality standards leave the plant. Enforce quality controls and procedures that are performed correctly, timely, and documented completely. Perform initial accident investigations. Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures, and be an example for subordinates to follow. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or necessary. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Min of 2 years of experience in Quality Control/Assurance in a manufacturing setting preferred The ideal candidate should be trained in the use of modern continuous improvements techniques such as Six Sigma, SPC, and Problem-Solving Methodologies. Essential Requirements: Ability to work 8 hours per day with the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed (up to 12 hours per day as necessary for production volume). The ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with extreme temperatures and some outdoor exposure is possible. Ability to safely lift to 50 pounds. Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc. Must have good mathematics skills, the ability to accurately use a tape measure, and be knowledgeable in both US and metric measurement systems. Must be able to effectively use a computer and have intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and email and basic proficiency in the rest of MS Office. Ability to take detailed clear photographs documenting quality. Must have visual acuity, discernment of color and texture, and finger dexterity. Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate effectively in English. Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to bend, lift, twist, reach, grasp, and other physical movements.
