Learn more about the benefits of joining Team UES and our core values at careers.teamues.com.Position OverviewAs a Special Inspector with CWI, you will be responsible for providing various testing and inspections on new and on-going projects to verify compliance with building codes and standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine field tests or inspectionsComplete structural concrete and reinforcing code and job specification complianceRead maps, blueprints, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plansUnderstand structural masonry code and job specification complianceDetermine pre-stressed and post tension concrete tendons, reinforcing code and job specification compliancePerform inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, steel and/or wood framingDetermine spray-applied fireproofing code and job specification complianceDocument accurate and detailed field activity/inspections and report findings/diagrams to the clients and supervisorsCommunicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers verbally and electronicallyComplete and prepare accurate and detailed field-testing reports dailyFollow all safety procedures, policies and protocolsVehicle maintenance, inspection, and adherence to safety policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sitesValid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordExperience of 2+ years in field and/or inspectionsPreferred: AAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or related degreeStrong knowledge of relevant DOT material specifications and testing proceduresRequired Certifications:Active ICC Certifications: Masonry, Soils, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, Post-Tension, Concrete, etc. or EI (Engineer-In-Training) licensureActive CWI certificationAbility to pass a background check screeningAbility to read and interpret construction documentsAbility to calculate results from construction inspectionsAbility to accurately perform field testing documentation and detailed figuresAbility to read and interpret construction documents and technical specificationsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, construction teams, and other employees of the organizationStrong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer Preferred QualificationsPreferred Certifications:ACCP CertificationRadiation Safety, DOT Roadway, Earthworks CertificationsAdditional Applicable Industry Certifications Travel RequirementsThis position requires extensive travel, approximately up to 70% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments.
