Power Generation Technician / Mechanic – CAT 3600Position Type: Direct HirePosition Location: Can be anywhere US based (Texas is HQ)Position Pay: $45/HR - $52/HR (Depending on Experience) + OT# of Positions: 6 openingsResponsibilities:Power Generation Technician with deep Caterpillar 3600 series experience to support large-bore diesel engine service, overhauls, and troubleshooting across power generation, compression, and critical industrial applications.This position is specifically designed for CAT 3600 specialists—technicians who have hands-on experience with engine inspections, top-end overhauls, major teardown support, performance diagnostics, and field outage work on large diesel platforms.The ideal candidate is a proven, independent technician who understands the complexity, precision, and accountability required when working on mission-critical equipment.Perform advanced service, diagnostics, and repair work on Caterpillar 3600 series engines (3606 / 3608 / 3612 / 3616)Execute top-end, mid-life, and major outage work including:Valve train inspections and adjustmentsPower assembly R&RBearing inspections and measurementsTiming, alignment, and mechanical checksTroubleshoot complex mechanical, fuel, air, lubrication, and combustion-related issuesSupport generator, compressor, and mechanical drive applications utilizing CAT 3600 platformsInterpret CAT SIS, engine performance data, diagnostics, and mechanical schematicsCommission and evaluate engine performance after maintenance or overhaul activitiesSupport outage planning, execution, and return-to-service operationsAccurately document findings, measurements, root cause analysis, and corrective actionsInterface professionally with customers, plant personnel, and project teamsMentor junior or mid-level technicians during outage or field service workMaintain strict compliance with safety standards (LOTO, confined space, hot work, etc.)Requirements: High School Diploma / GED a minimum; Higher Education or Certifications are a plus5–10+ years of hands-on CAT 3600 series experienceProven field experience on large-bore diesel engines in power generation or compression applicationsStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work from OEM specifications and tolerancesExperience working outages, turnarounds, or critical downtime eventsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in high-pressure environmentsValid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensivelyPhysically capable of demanding industrial work environmentsCAT factory training or dealer background on 3600 platforms is preferredExperience with mechanical-drive compressors or generator packages is neededFamiliarity with CAT controls, monitoring systems, and performance indicators is preferredExposure to Cummins large engines is a plus, but CAT 3600 is the priorityOSHA safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, confined space, LOTO)Focused almost entirely on large CAT engines — not light-duty generator workSupport for outages, major services, and complex diagnosticsWork alongside technicians who know CAT 3600s, not learn them from scratchOpportunity to be recognized as a subject-matter expert, not just another techBenefits: Full Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision)401K + MatchingOvertime and travel payCompany vehicle, tools, and specialized equipmentOEM training opportunities
