Mechanical Plans Examiner - Remote, VA - Part TimeSAFEbuilt is currently seeking a talented, experienced Mechanical Plans Examiner with Building Plan Review experience to support their National Plan Review Operations. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected national plan review team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.Job RequirementsReview and evaluate structural construction documents submitted for approval utilizing applicable codes/standards/guidelines/laws, appropriate municipal ordinances, and construction and engineering standards, determine review fees, and authorize the release of approved documents for city permits.Review mechanical calculations for compliance with codesProvide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies in plans and specifications.Direct and participate in design coordination meetings regarding private development projects and city, state, and regional capital improvement projects in order to lead the development process, ensure timely approval and completion of projects, and resolve any problem areas.Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments.Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects/assignments.Skills/KnowledgeExtensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technologyInterpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutionsMust possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clienteleExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGood time management, organization, and attention to detail skillsDemonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgmentEducation/Certification/ExperienceICC Mechanical Plans Examiner Certification requiredICC Certifications in other trades are a plusPlan Review experience requiredCOMPENSATION: SAFEbuilt offers a competitive salary and 401K with matching for part time employees.More About SAFEbuilt: http://safebuilt.com/Our employees are our greatest asset, with exceptionally certified individuals in all departments, including Planning & Zoning, Code Enforcement, Fire Prevention, and Engineering, as well as full-service and supplemental Building Department services.
