Systems Requirements & Design -Medium Area Manager Overview This individual will manage the activities of Systems Requirements & Design - Medium personnel. (Department capabilities and work scope includes but not limited to System Architecture, System/Subsystem Requirements and Design Documents, Interface Control Documents, and functional requirements, System level Test Procedures and Plans). This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.  (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance). The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.)On-going learning opportunities within a diverse, inclusive and rewarding work environmentOnsite Cafeteria, remodeled with new equipment Fitness Center, and Outdoor fitness track    Responsibilities Provide the leadership and technical direction required to develop and deliver high quality work products; System/Functional/Physical architectures, System Specification (Roll-up), Requirements Traceability & Compliance Matrix, System/Subsystem design descriptions (S/SDD), functional/software requirements, interface control documents, product CDRLs, analysis and assessments, and test procedures and test plans.Manage area budgets and schedules to ensure work is performed on time with the highest quality and within budgeted costsCoordinate and assign tasks within the section to accomplish program objectivesIdentify and schedule manpower needs, tools and training requirementsMeet and execute staffing requirements - review manpower demand files to ensure accuracy and staffing commitments, acting where appropriateHire, train, and mentor employees to establish the technical competency and domain expertise required to successfully execute project responsibilities.Support program leads in achieving team commitmentsDevelop and track department metricsDevelop high-quality, cost-effective planning and proposal BOEs/inputsParticipate in technical and program reviewsPerform administrative duties associated with management of section personnel which includes, but is not limited to, conducting performance appraisals, monitoring labor reporting, preparing status reports, and attending and conducting staff meetingsCreate a work environment in the section that is oriented to product quality and customer satisfaction.Create a work environment that cultivates teamwork and growth mindset.   Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.Master’s degree in engineering or business is preferred.10+ years of applicable experience is required, with 3+ years in a leadership role.MBSE Experience (SysML) a plusKnowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001/OHSAS18001, and CMMI standardsMaintain ISO and CMMI certification by assisting in developing department procedures and measures to ensure compliance to all appropriate SP's, FOI's and DI'sHave a working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and IL-HDBK-799Address personnel issues as required in accordance with the GDLS Code of Ethics HandbookExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have demonstrated leadership abilityDemonstrated experience with Earned Value Measurement Systems (EVMS)Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)Ability and willingness to travel when required to execute job functions.
