This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to mission-critical software development that enhances national security and space exploration capabilities. The role can be based in Redondo Beach, CA; Aurora, CO; or Gilbert, AZ, providing flexibility to suit the candidate’s location preferences. The successful candidate will be involved in developing, maintaining, and enhancing various mission operational software products, as well as creating new capabilities to meet evolving mission requirements. This role requires a proactive and passionate software engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to tackle complex technical challenges. The position involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that have a tangible impact on national security and space missions.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience or a master’s degree with additional experience. An active SCI security clearance at the time of application is required, or a Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI clearance within a reasonable timeframe. Candidates should have strong object-oriented programming skills, particularly in C++, and familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems. Additional qualifications include experience in software development within secure environments, knowledge of agile methodologies, and experience with DevSecOps practices. Candidates with a background in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Java, alongside a solid foundation in mathematics and algorithms, will be highly regarded. The ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels is essential, along with a demonstrated problem-solving aptitude.ResponsibilitiesThe Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical software systems that support national security objectives. Specific duties include analyzing system requirements, coding, testing, and debugging software applications, and integrating new features into existing platforms. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure software reliability, performance, and security. The engineer will participate in agile development processes, contribute to software documentation, and support software deployment and maintenance activities. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to assist in troubleshooting complex issues, implementing automation testing, and continuously improving software processes.
