High School Coach - Winter Track
The Norristown Area School District is looking for a Head Winter Track Coach for the 2026-2027 school year.The Coach Provides leadership, supervision, and organization for the High School Winter Track program. Responsible for the design and implementation of athletic planning, student-athlete development, and the coordination of coaching staff to ensure a competitive and safe environmentQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferredDemonstrated coaching experience at the high school varsity or collegiate level.Previous head coaching experience at the high school level or collegiate level preferred.Deep knowledge of sport-specific strategy, player development, and competition preparationValid Pennsylvania Driver's License required.Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented.Ability to work as a coordinator and a member of a team while communicating effectively.Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and work under periods of stress.Ability to recognize areas of concern (player safety, team dynamics) and propose appropriate solutions.Demonstrates effective field/classroom management skills and possesses conflict mediation skills.Knowledge of budgets and ability to monitor budget processes.Strong organizational, strategic planning, and pro-social collaboration skills.Ability to be flexible, self-directed, and work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environmentDuties and ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of the varsity program including scheduling, practices, competitions, and postseasonAssesses the Winter Track program's performance at all levels (Varsity, JV, Freshman) and develops strategies to improve player skills and team competitiveness.Provides direct supervision and leadership, in collaboration with Athletic Director, to all assistant coaches within the program to ensure alignment with the district's athletic philosophy and coaching standards.Researches and stays abreast of modern coaching techniques, safety protocols (including concussion management), and emerging sports technology to enhance student performance.Maintains familiarity with PIAA and District eligibility requirements. Advises student-athletes on academic standards and collegiate recruiting processes.Identifies equipment needs and assists with the proper fitting and maintenance of protective gear to ensure student safety.Provides an inclusive environment that takes into account diverse student backgrounds, skill levels, and individual differences in connection with athletic development.Designs and produces practice plans, scouting reports, and film review sessions through the use of digital video analysis software.Assists with the implementation and maintenance of athletic facilities, weight rooms, and equipment inventory.Prepares and submits budgetary requests for equipment and apparel; monitors expenditures of funds for approved athletic purchases.Plans, prepares, and delivers, in collaboration with staff, off-season conditioning and summer camp programs based on safety standards and district goals.Serves as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, maintaining proactive and transparent communication regarding practice schedules, match locations, and team expectations.Provides individual and small group instruction related to Winter Track fundamentals and maintains a good rapport with students, parents, and community stakeholders.Collaborates with youth program directors and middle school coaches to align instructional terminology, fundamental skill development, and coaching philosophies.Maintains the confidentiality of student academic and medical records as part of exercising professional duties.Abides by federal, state (PIAA), and local school laws and regulations, mandated programs, trainings ,District policies, and administrative regulations.Additional duties as assignedSeason Stipend:$ 8,000.00
