Import/Export Coordinator
Starting Pay of $20/hr
Scope:
The Import/Export Control Specialist supports the Shipping team by managing day-to-day import and export activities to ensure timely, compliant movement of goods across international borders. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining shipping and trade documentation, coordinating with internal and external partners, and ensuring compliance with domestic and international trade regulations.
Essential Functions:
Manage all aspects of import and export processes in support of shipping operations.
Prepare, review, and process required import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, SLI, SED, and other shipping-related export documents.
Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, including customs laws and export control requirements.
Coordinate with internal teams (shipping, planning, procurement, quality), customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth customs clearance and on-time delivery.
Monitor and track domestic and international shipments; proactively identify and resolve shipping delays or customs clearance issues.
Prepare and manage documentation related to dangerous goods, including MSDS, specifications, drawings (DWG), and IMO requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all import/export transactions in accordance with record retention requirements.
Liaise with suppliers and customers to support efficient and compliant logistics operations.
Provide guidance and support to internal teams on import/export and shipping processes.
Support product and material classifications by working with external partners (e.g., EY) and internal stakeholders.
Assist with audits, inquiries, or reviews related to shipping and trade compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned by the manager to support business and operational needs.
Qualifications/Skill Requirements
Minimum two years of experience in import/export, shipping, or trade compliance within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Demonstrated manufacturing ERP or shipping systems experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Working knowledge of international shipping documents, customs requirements, and export regulations.
Experience coordinating with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
