About the roleJCW Group is partnering with a leading financial institution to place an experienced technology risk contractor in their infrastructure and risk function. This engagement is ideal for a seasoned professional who bridges both 1st line operational risk and 3rd line assurance — someone who can assess controls at depth while engaging credibly with front-line technology teams. The role is two days per week on-site in Middlesex County, NJ.Key responsibilitiesAssess infrastructure risk across network, cloud, and on-prem environments within a regulated financial services settingEvaluate IT general controls — access management, change management, patch management, and SDLC — from both a 1st line operational and 3rd line assurance perspectiveIdentify control gaps, document findings, and recommend pragmatic risk mitigation strategies with clear business impactPartner with infrastructure, security, and risk teams to present findings and support remediation effortsEnsure alignment with regulatory expectations and industry frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, or ISO 27001Required experienceDemonstrated blend of 1st line (operational risk, control ownership) and 3rd line (audit, independent assurance) technology risk experienceStrong infrastructure background — networking, servers, cloud platforms, end-user computing, or related disciplines within banking or financial servicesFamiliarity with risk and control frameworks (NIST CSF, COBIT, ISO 27001) and relevant regulatory expectations in financial servicesAbility to work independently as a contractor and deliver high-quality outcomes with limited oversightMust be based in the Eastern Standard Time zone; commutable to Middlesex County, NJ for two on-site days per weekTom Meberg works with Audit Professionals for leading companies across the country.
