Join us and build your career with a company that is Building a Better Future.Job SummaryThe Mechanic diagnoses and repairs diesel tractors, trailers and other wheeled vehicles by performing the following duties.Job ResponsibilitiesExamines and diagnoses vehicle problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methodsDiscusses extensive or difficult in-depth repairs with Terminal Manager, and/or SupervisorDemonstrate and enforces CEMEX safety policies and regulations to all mechanics (i.e. lockout tagout policies, hazard assessment)Make sure shop and all repairs are in compliance with OSHA regulationsPerforms routine scheduled maintenance outlined on PM checklist sheetsPlans all routine work proceduresRaises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical components for removal, repair or inspectionRemoves components for repair of replacement such as, but not limited to: alternators, starters, water pumps, radiators, condensers, compressors, clutches, transmissions, differentials, wheel assemblies, brakes, drivelines, gearboxes, pump, rollers, etcDisassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failureTroubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems, and componentsInspects and replaces parts such as clutches, wheel seals, brake linings, drums, bearings, and all other components as described aboveOverhauls and rebuilds serviceable componentsSome regional traveling required to repair company equipmentDiagnoses and repairs electrical systems and circuitry in accordance with acceptable industry standardsPerforms occasional cutting and welding utilizing both gas and electric welding equipmentReplaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wiper bladesEnters work orders on system for equipment inventory purposesAdhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all timesWear proper safety equipment while on plant groundsMeet or exceed company safety standardsPerform other job responsibilities as assigned by managementQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent3 years related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experienceHigh school diploma or equivalent3 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAble to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute with exactness instructions given in both verbal and written formBi-lingual Spanish a plusAble to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understanding instructions given by supervisor, possess common senseAbility to deal with mechanical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsPossession of valid Driverâs License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or the ability to obtain such a license within the new employee evaluation period (180 days) with driving record that meets company requirements in order to retrieve or test drive company commercial vehiclesForklift certified or willing to obtainTWIC preferred or willing to obtainWorking ConditionsJob involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of timePhysical RequirementsWalking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degreeExerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objectsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitorsRequires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degreeExerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of timeWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors Legal NoticesCEMEX is an EEO/AA (equal opportunity/affirmative action) institution and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital or familial status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by under federal, state or local law in the programs or activities which it operates.CEMEX will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with all local, state and federal laws.CEMEX is an E-Verify participating employer.Arizona Smoke-Free Act.
