Duties/ResponsibilitiesJob Skills / RequirementsDutiesArmed SPOs shall perform all tasks in accordance with the duties outlined within the Post Orders, which are prepared by the Office of Safety and Security for all shifts on each post. Some of the duties include but are not limited to:Provide visual deterrence against wrongful acts against our client’s employees, customers, and propertyUnderstand company policies and successfully executes his/ her post ordersAccess Control Package Screening (X-Ray Machine)Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers)Traffic Control Visitor processingVehicle inspectionCommunications and dispatchingPatrol areas inside and outside of the facilityEmergency and event responseRequires standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workdayCorrectly attired in uniform, equipment, and grooming.QualificationsMust be eligible to work in the United States and willing to undergo a full background and personal reference check, in accordance with local law/regulationsCapable of making rational and reasonable decisions during tense, uncertain, rapidly evolving situationsMinimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or professional correctional officer experiencePossess a high school diploma or equivalency; however, collegiate academic course work or an AA/AS degree is preferredCurrent SPO (Armed) license issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB)SPO shall carry a current 9mm Caliber Semiautomatic Pistol, “Qualified” card signed and dated by a certified firearm instructorCertified to carry and shall carry Pepper Spray (Oleoresin Capsicum)Possess a current “CPR/First Aid” card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalentExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skillsPhysical DemandsSPO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned dutiesFrequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12hours pr day, either indoors or outdoorsSPO’s may be required to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisisSPO's physical stamina in all forms (mental, climatic, etc.) is a fundamental requirement of this positionOccasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairsBTI Security is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity and does not unlawfully discriminate against employees or applicants for employment.
