Position Type:Teaching/Bilingual/Dual Language TeacherDate Posted:5/5/2026Location:District WideDate Available:08/14/2026Job Summary:In collaboration with a partner teacher, the dual language teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction in the target language that is aligned to the curriculum and learning standards. The dual language teacher establishes a culture for learning within the classroom, ensuring that students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The dual language teacher maintains regular communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding the instructional program and student progress.Primary Responsibilities:Demonstrates an understanding of the core purposes of the dual language immersion program by promoting:Bilingualism and biliteracy.The pursuit of high academic achievement in English and Spanish; andThe development of students' knowledge of their own culture and the cultures of the world.Collaborates regularly with the partner teacher to:Plan for instruction.Create common assessments and writing rubrics.Plan cultural events and experiences; andAnalyze oral language assessments in English and Spanish.Develops lesson plans that demonstrate a knowledge of the important concepts and skills in a particular content area, as identified in the district's curriculum.Prepares lesson plans that incorporate best practice instructional strategies for a particular discipline.Uses a variety of instructional resources and materials in planning engaging, rigorous, and differentiated activities that are structured to advance student learning.Designs a variety of student assessments that are aligned with the learning outcomes, using both formative and summative assessments to:Monitor student progress toward the learning outcomes; andAdapt instruction for the whole class, individuals, or small groups of students.Promotes positive and supportive relationships with students.Fosters a classroom culture that is characterized by a commitment to learning and hard work.Maximizes the use of instructional time by:Establishing efficient classroom routines and procedures.Guiding instructional groups; andManaging classroom transitions.Manages classroom behavior by:Communicating clear expectations for student conduct.Proactively monitoring student behavior at all times; andResponding to student misbehavior in an appropriate and respectful manner.Enhances the learning environment by:Arranging the classroom to support instruction and student activities; andUtilizing available technology and instructional resources to engage students.Uses questioning and discussion strategies during instruction to:Engage students in critical thinking and reflection.Encourage students to make connections, draw conclusions, and formulate arguments.Challenge students to explain their thinking.Strengthen students' ability to develop their own questions; andAssess student understanding.Engages students in activities and assignments that are intellectually challenging, providing students with opportunities to:Develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English and Spanish.Develop skills that will enable them to communicate bilingually.Develop proficiency in all core content areas in English and Spanish; andReflect on what they have learned.Instructs students in English and Spanish, using strategies conducive to dual language immersion such as:Targeted language; andCooperative learning.Actively assesses student understanding during instruction, providing constrictive feedback designed to inform students of their progress and how they can improve their work.Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness during instruction by:Adapting the lesson in response to student feedback, questions, and interests; andIncorporating alternative teaching methods to help students who are having difficulty.Reflects on instructional practices to improve teaching and student learning.Maintains accurate and updated records of student:Grades and progress.Completion of assignments.Assessments.Attendance; andNon-instructional records, such as the submission of permission slips.Communicates frequently with families providing information about:The instruction and learning that are taking place in the classroom.The academic and social emotional progress of individual students; andHow families can participate in their students' learning.Contributes positively to the school community by:Collaborating with colleagues in a professional learning community.Participating in staff meetings.Participating in district/school provided professional development.Volunteering to participate in school/district events and projects; andSupporting school/district initiatives.Displays a high level of ethics and professionalism in interactions with students, colleagues, administrators, and parents/guardians.Qualifications:Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in elementary and/or self-contained general education, and bilingual (BSPA) education required.Teachers who have obtained an ELS (TBE) license may also be considered.Strong knowledge of the WIDA standards and instructional best practices in language, literacy, and mathematics.Must possess native or near-native proficiency in English and Spanish.Must possess familiarity with second language acquisition pedagogy.Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with students.Exhibits high emotional intelligence and patience when faced with challenging situations.Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when unforeseen circumstances require changes to a lesson or the class schedule.Dedicated to working collaboratively within a grade level team, sharing data, lesson plans, and instructional strategies with colleagues.Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.Strong knowledge of state learning standards and instructional best practices in literacy and mathematics.Able to work with a diverse student population that come from different linguistic, socioeconomic, and family backgrounds.Establishes clear, appropriate and open communication with parents and guardians.Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction.Salary and Benefits:Starting salary of $54,344 (Please click the link to view the current (salary schedule).Salary is commensurate with education and experience.Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.We offer a mentoring program for teachers who are new to the District.The District offers a competitive benefits package, which includes health (Blue Cross Blue Shield), dental (Guardian), vision (VSP) and life insurance plans (2025-2026 CCSD130 Benefit Summary Guide).Reimbursement of up to $100 for goods and activities that promote wellness as part of the District's Employee Wellness Program.Employee assistance program offered to employees and their immediate family members.Working Conditions:Work hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.180 days per year - August through May.
