Ryerson offers a dynamic, quality-focused, environment, ideal for advancing your career and making your mark in the metals industry.As a Welder at Laserflex, a part of Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for applying welding and fabricating processes to metal and ensuring quality and customer standards are met.Roles And ResponsibilitiesApplies appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment and processes metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminumWorks according to the layouts, work orders, and blueprints MIG and TIG welding equipment; will need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some material; will also need to position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand toolsInspects completed work for conformance to specificationsObserves all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required recordsWorking in a safe manner as outlined during training and using prescribed safety equipment including PPEAll other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without noticeRequirementsSuccessfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferredExtensive MIG welding experience, TIG welding experience preferredForklift and overhead crane experiencePhysical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobilitySuccessful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboardingWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation or preference, and pregnancy), age, national origin, religion, disability or genetic information, marital status, status as a veteran, or any other federal, state or local protected class or artificial barrier.
