The Browning School is a K-12 boys school located on East 62nd Street (Lower and Middle Schools) and East 64th Street (Upper School) in midtown Manhattan, New York. Serving roughly 470 students in kindergarten through grade 12, Browning strives to combine the best of a traditional prep school environment and curriculum with imaginative teaching and a strong value system – all in a single-sex setting.Position DescriptionBrowning is searching for a full-time Lower School Associate Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position will begin on or around August 27, 2026. The expected annual salary for this position is $59,000. A bachelor’s degree or considerable experience in the role is required. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.Key ResponsibilitiesLower School Associate Teachers support teaching and learning in Grades K-3 classrooms at Browning. This role will be in kindergarten, second, or third grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Associate teachers are responsible for building strong relationships with students and head teachers in order to deliver the content and curriculum of the Browning program. Successful associate teachers believe in and desire the growth of all their students and have a passion for the art, craft, and science of pedagogy. Ultimately, teachers are responsible for the most important work of our School -- knowing our boys and teaching them well. Among other things, a Lower School Associate Teacher is responsible for:Partnering with head teacher(s) in delivering instruction in literacy, writing, mathematics, and social studiesShepherding both the social-emotional and academic growth of the boys in your careHelping to cultivate a classroom environment that is warm and welcoming, while holding students to high expectations for excellenceCreating strong relationships with students built on Browning’s core values of honesty, dignity, curiosity, and purposeCollaborating as a professional, collegial, and inspirational member of the faculty and your teaching teamParticipating in professional development to grow self, division, and schoolAssisting with communication with families about curricular and student matters as neededHeartily contributing to the school communityPerforming non-classroom duties as needed such as early arrival, bus dismissal, lunch duty, recess supervision, and providing substitute coverage when a head teacher is absentKey CompetenciesIn General, Successful Members Of The Browning Faculty Are Champions of boys -- They believe in and love the expansive potential in boys.
