Job Description
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to provide academic support and personal services for economically and academically disadvantaged students who possess the desire and potential to earn a college degree.
The Summer Institute is a tuition-free, six-week residential program designed to support incoming students in their transition to college. The program prepares students for the academic rigor of higher education, builds familiarity with campus resources, and fosters a strong sense of community, belonging, and personal responsibility.
Dates of Full-Time Obligation:
June 29 - August 13
June 30-July 2: Staff Training
July 6-August 12: Residential Program

This is a live-in position, and Residence Hall Directors are expected to be on-site and fully available throughout training and the program, including evenings and weekends.
Position Summary
The Summer EOP Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a live-in leadership position responsible for the overall management of a residential community of Summer Institute participants. The RHD supervises Resident Assistants/Peer Mentors, ensures student safety and well-being, supports student development, and facilitates the successful implementation of the residential component of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision & Staff Leadership
Directly supervise, train, and evaluate Resident Assistants/Peer Mentors
Facilitate regular staff meetings, provide ongoing feedback, and support staff development
Support and assist in the planning and delivery of staff training
Student Support & Development
Foster a supportive, inclusive, and academically focused residential community
Support students in their transition to college life, with a focus on building confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging
Provide guidance in conflict resolution, decision-making, and personal responsibility
Maintain a strong and visible presence in the residence hall to build relationships and support students
Provide an active evening presence in the residence hall, including availability for student support, community engagement, and responding to concerns outside of standard business hours
Program Implementation
Oversee the planning and execution of residential programming
Collaborate with EOP staff to ensure alignment between academic and residential components
Assist with logistics for community-building activities and events
Crisis Response & Conduct
Serve as the primary responder for student concerns, including crisis situations, and respond in a calm, timely, and professional manner
Address student conduct issues and document incidents in a timely and professional manner
Maintain communication with EOP leadership and Residence Life staff regarding student concerns and incidents
Administration & Operations
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
Assist with hall operations including check-in/check-out, room assignments, and facility concerns
Ensure adherence to program policies, procedures, and expectations
Collaboration
Collaborate with Residence Life staff, Campus Safety, Faculty, EOP leadership, and campus partners to respond to incidents and support student needs.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing program assessment
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by EOP leadership
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated student leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage crises and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
Strong organizational and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supervising student staff
Background working with first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented student populations
Additional Information
Compensation
Stipend: $2,500
Housing and meals provided for the duration of training and the Summer Institute
