JOB TITLE – Part Time DriverSCOPE & PURPOSEThe Activities Assistant – Driver's general supervision and direction from the Manager/Administrator and the Regional Director. He/she will comply with established policies and procedures. The primary function of this role is Driver, and the Activities Assistant is the secondary role.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties & responsibilities may include, but not limited to:Activities Assistant:● Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.● Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.● Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising, managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers, and coordinating transportation.● Observing participants at events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.● Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents.● Reporting medical concerns or observations.● Ensuring that events are well-provisioned, event staff is trained and prepared, and that the event takes place on time and within budget.● Providing participants with instructions for the event.● Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.Driver:● Drives the property vehicle when assigned.● Inspects vehicle prior to operation.● Follows the safety precautions and accident reporting as outlined in Operation of the Van/Minibus Policy (ALF-32).● Is required to notify the Administrator/Manager immediately under the following conditions:● Conviction for any traffic violation, except parking, regardless of the nature of the violation or the type of vehicle which was driven at the time;● If a driver's license is suspended, revoked, canceled, or if he/she is disqualified from driving● Maintains supplies and equipment as outlined in Operation of the Van/Minibus Policy (ALF-32).● Arranges for yearly state inspection and annual registration renewal.● Loads and unloads passengers in a safe and courteous manner.● Maintains daily motor vehicle record.● Reports any malfunction of vehicle to designated supervisor.● Performs preventive maintenance on van/minibus. Ensures vehicle is washed. Cleans interior of vehicle after each use.● Makes arrangements for authorized repairs to vehicle.● Reports to work in uniform provided him/her.● Observes and protects residents' rights including rights to confidentiality, privacy and dignity.● Practices safety procedures and complies with established reporting of accidents and injuries.● Performs other related duties that may be assigned.REQUIREMENTSActivities Assistant Requirements:The Activities Assistant will create and handle the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly events in an effort to engage clients and residents. They will speak to participants to get feedback, volunteers and resources, and deliver fun, safe events while on time and under budget. You should be detail-oriented and possess excellentinterpersonal and time management skills.To succeed as an Activities Assistant - Driver, you should strive to stage entertaining, engaging activities that will appeal to the age and physical or emotional condition of the residents. You should be observant, driven, creative, and caring.Driver Requirements:• Must be at least 18 years of age with a good driving record. The definition of a good driving record is: o "A driver can certify that, during the last ten (10) years he/she: Has not had more than one license. Has not had any license suspended, revoked, or canceled. Has not had any convictions in any type of motor vehicle for major disqualifying offenses: • Two or more serious traffic violations within a 3-year period. These include excessive speeding, reckless driving, improper or erratic lane changes, following the vehicle ahead too closely • Traffic offenses in connection with fatal traffic accidents • Driving under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol • Leaving the scene of an accident or using a vehicle to commit a felony.• Must authorize Residential One to obtain a driving record from the Maryland Division of Motor Vehicles.• Must be approved to drive vehicle by the insurance carrier.• Must have passed a Department of Transportation drug screening.Qualifications1. High School Diploma and certain certifications may be required.2. More education or experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.3. Job training and first-aid and CPR training may be necessary.4. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.5. Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.6. Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.7. Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.8. Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.9. Flexibility to work when needed, especially evenings, weekends, or early mornings.10. Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.Physical Demands1. Must be able to continuously stand or walk.2. Must be able to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.3. Must be able to lift to 25 to 50 pounds.4. Must be able to perform all functions required to drive a van.5.
