Position Details:RN PCU/Stepdown Unit 4SEThis position will not accept local candidates. Dysrhythmia Exam Required (Study Guide Available)12 HR NightsVent experience required. Insulin drips. Need STRONG higher acuity experience. BLS, ACLS, NIH requiredOpen to a 48 HR GTE contract- OT after 48 Unit Specific Details:28 Bed UnitDrips: Cardizem, Amio but no pressors. Airway: Vents/Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Airvo Very high acuity ICU stepdown patients. Must have ventilator experience. We get a wide variety of patients, respiratory, renal, surgical, trauma. Only unit in the hospital other than ICUs that get trachs and vents. Ratios 1:4-5. Typically try and staff 3 CNA's on days, 2 in the afternoon and 1 at night depending on availability. Try to keep charge nurse out of ratio on days but not always the case. Nights charge does take assignment. Float to like/lower units, o ther PCU, SDU, IMC and lower levels of care. *All listed ratios are subject to change based on staffing availability at the facility. Ratios are never guaranteed but are what the unit typically attempts to achieve with normalized staffing. --Job Code 740N37 Include JobCode in Name Yes Job Profile Summary Job Description Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position TheStepdown Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection andassessment, identifying and determining the priority of patients problems/needs, and evaluating the process andoutcome of nursing care, all in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The RN coordinates, provides, anddirects patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members. Essential Job Functions • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implementstreatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the Stateof Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures. • Serves as point of contact for patient's carecoordination throughout hospital departments. • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing qualityimprovement in the department. • Serves as patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, andethics. • Serves as a point of care with care coordination and family members or caregivers. • Clinically managespatients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma. • Using the AACN Synergy Model, restores, supports,promotes, rehabilitates, or palliates to maintain the physiologic, psychologic, and psychosocial stability of patientsacross the lifespan. • Synthesizes and prioritizes information in order to take immediate and decisive evidence-based,patient-focused action using clinical judgement and clinical inquiry. • Anticipates and responds with confidence andadapts to rapidly changing patient conditions. • Responds to the unique needs of the patients and families coping withunanticipated illness or injury and treatment and advocate for their choices in quality of life. • BSMH nurses areexpected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH NursingProfessional Practice Model.
