Plant Controller
Functioning as the Plant Controller, the Operational Finance Lead is responsible for leading all aspects of manufacturing finance, including product costing, inventory valuation, financial planning, and financial close integrity within a complex SAP environment.This role ensures the accuracy, transparency, and scalability of cost and operational financial data in a moving average and variant-configured product environment. The position serves as a key business partner to plant and operations leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights and driving improved business performance.In addition, this role leads and develops the cost accounting team, building capability and strengthening the organization’s long-term manufacturing finance expertise.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Costing & Inventory ManagementOwn the integrity of product costing in a moving average price (MAP) environmentEnsure accuracy of inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and margin reportingLead analysis of:Material cost changesPurchase price impactsProduction and inventory cost driversMonitor and manage inventory reserves, including excess, obsolete, and net realizable valueProvide clear visibility into margin performance by product, configuration, and business driversSAP Costing & Data GovernanceOwn SAP costing processes and data structures, including:Material master dataBills of material (BOMs) and routingsCost components and cost flowsEnsure data integrity across systems impacting product costPartner with IT, engineering, and operations to resolve costing inconsistenciesLead continuous improvement of costing processes and system functionalityFinancial Planning & AnalysisLead plant-level budgeting and forecasting processesDevelop financial plans based on:Production assumptionsCost behaviorProduct mix and configurationMonitor performance against plan and provide actionable variance analysisSupport capital investment analysis and long-term planning effortsFinancial Close & ReportingEnsure accurate and timely completion of month-, quarter-, and year-end close processesOversee and review:Journal entriesProduction order settlementAccount reconciliationsMaintain ownership of plant-level financial reporting and balance sheet integrityEnsure compliance with IFRS and corporate reporting requirementsSupport internal and external audit processesOperations Finance PartnershipServe as a finance business partner to plant and operations leadershipParticipate in plant leadership reviews and performance discussionsProvide financial insights to support:Production decisionsCost reduction initiativesSupply chain and sourcing strategiesTranslate operational metrics into financial impact and recommendationsLeadership & Talent DevelopmentLead and develop the cost accounting team, including coaching and performance managementBuild technical expertise in:SAP costingManufacturing finance analyticsDevelop high-potential employees and establish succession plansPromote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementProcess Improvement & ControlsStrengthen internal controls over inventory, costing, and financial processesIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilityLead initiatives to standardize and document key cost accounting processesQUALIFICATIONS:Required:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8–12+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance or cost accountingStrong experience in SAP manufacturing environmentsDeep understanding of:Inventory valuationCost of goods sold in non-standard cost environmentsFinancial close and reporting processesProven leadership experience managing and developing teamsAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred:CPA, CMA, or MBAExperience with moving average costing environmentsExperience with variant-configured products or complex BOM structuresPrior experience in a plant controller or operations finance leadership role
