Mechanical Engineer, D&F Franklin, TN or RemoteAbout the Team Operations Engineering at DCS encompasses Project and Mechanical Engineers that perform all engineering activities from receipt of contract through commissioning and close-out of a project. We pride ourselves on creativity, problem-solving, solid engineering techniques, and getting stuff done.About the Role As a Mechanical Engineer, Distribution and Fulfillment you'll apply your knowledge of engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems. You will be responsible for creating drawing sets that communicate the design to all stakeholders, including customers during firm engineering, building officials for permitting, and suppliers and subcontractors for their design and installation. You will contribute to a project team and report to an engineering manager. You will periodically take an active role in person when working with customers during design. We'll appreciate your methodical approach, solid technical know-how, and attention to detail in your work.In This Role, You Will... Review and apply customer specifications to designReview architectural and other drawings against conveyance design to check for interferences and ensure clearance requirements are metParticipate in firm engineering meetings with the customers and suppliers; may lead technical discussion during these meetingsSupport in person meetings with customers or vendors near the DCS office (Franklin, TN) and occasionally in a customer's office or job siteProduce detailed mechanical installation drawingsCreate detailed Bills of Material for purchasing equipmentCreate point load drawings when requiredVerify calculations, such as horsepower and throughputWork with vendors to review equipment drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirementsProvide technical guidance during detailed design to best industry standardsProduce and/or compile installation details, including supplier installation drawings and manuals, for the fieldTravel to job sites to verify field conditionsReport drawing status to the Project Engineer as required maintaining the project scheduleCreate and maintain CAD filesReview and create as-built drawingsMay occasionally design parts or platforms required for material handling systemProvide other required engineering tasks as necessaryTravel up to 25%We're Excited About You Because... You have a BS in a technical discipline (ME, EE, other engineering/CAD)You have 4-6 years of experience with projects in the distribution and fulfillment spaceYou have 4+ years of MHE execution design experience [with a focus on Amazon]You have a solid knowledge of drafting & design standardsYou excel in collaborative in person environment as well as a remote setting, and are excited to be a part of our local team of expertsYou're proficient in AutoCAD & and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteYou're flexible and able to transition between several projectsYou possess excellent written and spoken communication skillsYou understand that the details make the big picture work, and like working in the detailsYou're more excited about the success of your team than your own personal successThis job description is not exhaustive.
