System Specialist – HVAC Controls Technician (Building Automation)

We take pride in delivering systems that not only function as designed but perform reliably in real-world conditions.Role DescriptionThe System Specialist – Controls Technician is a full-time, on-site position responsible for the commissioning, troubleshooting, and installation of building automation systems, with a strong emphasis on ALC/WebCTRL platforms.This role is field-focused and requires a technician who is comfortable working directly with HVAC equipment, control devices, and networked systems. The position involves supporting both new construction and existing system upgrades, ensuring systems are installed correctly, operate efficiently, and meet project requirements.Key Responsibilities:Install and configure building automation system, including controllers, sensors, and field devicesCommission systems by verifying point-to-point checkout, sequence operation, and system performanceTroubleshoot various communication protocol networks, controller configuration, and system integration issuesPerform preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, and calibration of control componentsInterpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operationWork directly with project engineers, project managers, and customers to resolve field issues and complete projectsSupport system upgrades, retrofits, and optimization efforts for existing facilitiesQualificationsDemonstrated experience with building automation systems (ALC/WebCTRL experience strongly preferred)Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control strategies, and sequences of operationProficiency in troubleshooting controls systems, including communication and integration issuesWorking knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and calibration practicesAbility to read and interpret control drawings and technical documentationSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field and document progress in a detailed mannerStrong communication skills when working with both internal teams and customersPreferred (but not required):Experience with Automated Logic Corporation products and softwareCommissioning or startup experience on BAS projectsTechnical certifications or formal training in controls, HVAC, or related fieldEducation:High school diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical training, certifications, or degree in a related field preferredWhat Sets This Role ApartThis position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of building systems while developing advanced troubleshooting and commissioning skills within a well-established ALC dealer environment.
